What this tool is for

If you are a non-EU visitor who can enter the Schengen Area without a visa, you may stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This calculator counts the days you have already used, shows how many you have left, and tells you when you can come back. It helps tourists, remote workers, retirees and frequent travellers avoid overstaying.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Add your past trips. In “1. Add your trips”, type the entry date and the exit date of each visit to the Schengen Area in the last 180 days, then press Add trip. Use your passport stamps, flight tickets or your EES record. Repeat for every visit.
  2. Read your days left. In “2. Your days left”, the large number shows how many of your 90 days remain today. Change Check as of to see the result on another date.
  3. Look at the 180 squares. Each square is one day of the window. Blue squares are days you were inside. If the number turns red, you have gone over the limit.
  4. Plan your next trip. In “3. Plan a new trip”, choose the date you want to enter and how many days you want to stay. The page shows the longest stay allowed and, if needed, the earliest entry date that fits.
  5. Come back any time. Your trips are saved in this browser only. Use Remove to delete one, and update the list after every new trip.

Example: you spent 30 days in Spain and 40 days in Italy, and both trips are inside the last 180 days. You have used 70 days and have 20 left, so a new trip can last at most 20 days, unless older days drop out of the window.

ETIAS and EES status

ETIAS: not in operation yet

There is no confirmed launch date. The official portal says no applications are being accepted and that a date will be announced several months ahead. Some reports point to 2027. The planned fee is €20, valid for 3 years.

Do not pay any website to apply for ETIAS now. Sites that charge for it today are not official.

EES: in operation

The Entry/Exit System has been running at all external Schengen borders since 10 April 2026. It replaces passport stamps with a digital record of your entries and exits, so overstays are easier to detect. The 90/180 rule itself has not changed.

Last verified: 25 October 2026. Sources: official ETIAS portal and French foreign ministry on EES.

Common questions

Does this replace the official calculator?

No. This is an unofficial tool to help you plan. Border officers decide on your real stay, so check the official EU sources before you travel.

Why does the result change every day?

Because the 180-day window moves forward. As old days leave the window, days become available again.

Do I need ETIAS?

Not yet. ETIAS is not in operation. See the ETIAS status page.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Your dates stay in your own browser. See the privacy page.

How it counts: entry and exit days both count as days in Schengen. On any day you are inside, the days you spent there in the previous 180 days (including today) must not exceed 90. This tool is not official and not legal advice. Border officers decide on your actual stay, so always check the official sources before you travel.
